SOCCEROOS midfielder Nick Carle has put pen to paper on a three-deal at English Championship club Bristol City and could make his debut for the Robins as early as this weekend.
The former Newcastle Jets playmaker joined Bristol from Turkish club Genclerbirligi on a $1.3 million transfer, which will keep him at Ashton Gate until the end of 2011.Bristol City are in a three-way tie with West Bromwich Albion and Watford at the top of the second-tier league table and have their eyes on promotion to the Premier League next season. The Robins take on Colchester at home on Saturday and manager Gary Johnson confirmed Carle was a chance of playing."We spoke to him before signing, and he knows all about how we pick the team here at City," Johnson said on the club's website."He has the same chance as everyone else and knows that if he plays well when he gets in he will stay in the team."Carle, who is joined by wife Melissa and 15-month-old son Jordan in the English Midlands, sought advice from Bristol City's former Australian players, Luke Wilkshire and Adam Federici, before agreeing to shift base from Turkey."I did a bit of research and it all came back very positive," he told the club's website."That made me, my wife and my little boy all the happier to be making the move."The team has been doing brilliant for the past two seasons, and they're doing fantastically well at the moment. I'm looking forward to the challenge to add my bit to the team when I can."
