COMEDIAN Mikey Robins will take on beauty Katie Fischer, pictured right, in a debate at Maitland in June.

Not surprisingly, the topic up for discussion is brains versus beauty which is better?

Robins, who has made a career out of his quick wit, shed more than 50 kilograms in the past year. Fischer shot to fame through modelling.

The event will raise funds to assist the Mai-Wel Group build a day centre for people with disabilities. Last year's debate was a big kick-start, with more than $13,000 being raised by tickets, raffles and an auction.

This will be Robins's second visit to the Mai-Wel Comedy Debate but this time he will be showing off his debating skills rather than his skills as a compere.

The Newcastle-raised entertainer co-hosts a brekkie program on Sydney radio station Vega 95.3FM with fellow former Novocastrian Tony Squires.

The debate, which will also feature American comedian Tommy Dean, author and lawyer Kellie Tranter, as well as ABC breakfast presenter Aaron Kearney, will be held at Maitland Town Hall on Saturday, June 23.
