THIS funnyman from The Junction is a comic wit who featured on the TV panel show Good News Week, which screened on the ABC and Channel 10 during the late 1990s.

For seven years until 1998, Robins presented a national breakfast radio program on Triple J.

He returned to morning radio in 2002 to present the Triple M breakfast show in Sydney with Amanda Keller but he left the station last year.

When Robins was an arts student at the University of Newcastle he became friends with TV personalities Steve "Sandman" Abbott and Tony Squires.

After his graduation, he joined a travelling cabaret ensemble known as the Castanet Club and made occasional appearances at children's parties dressed as a clown.

During his 20s, Robins spent several years washing dishes in Newcastle pubs as he honed his skills as a stand-up comedian.

Early in his TV career, he made appearances on Live and Sweaty with Lisbeth Gore, also known as Elle McFeast. The Newcastle-born comedian now has a regular spot on the early morning Sunrise

program on Prime.

Recommended reading: I'm actually reading Peter Cook the comedian, all his collection of articles and scripts. He's far and away the funniest writer and performer of his generation.

Recommended TV: The best thing about cricket is you can watch it instead of doing anything around the house. The ABC has Roger Ramjet back and I'm a sucker for Judge Judy.

Recommended movie: Lord of the Rings III. I hate

it. It's dull and you can fall asleep. It's about as interesting as a slide show of New Zealand. It's about taking the ring from one part of middle

earth to another. Let's be honest, it's nerd fest.

Recommended music: The new Stokes album Room On Fire and The Byrds, Sweetheart of the Rodeo. If I was into The Byrds in the sixties I would've been the hippest kid in the class.

Recommended video: The Godfather II. I've also been watching the fourth series of The Sopranos on DVD. It's more the food and the really sharp suits.

Dream holiday: It has to be Bora Bora in Tahiti. It's the most beautiful place in the world, it's incredible. The diving and the snorkelling - it's wonderful.

Favourite pastime: Just going to the beach. The beach is for laying down. It makes me very angry when people have activities on the beach. It's very annoying. I used to love going body surfing at Bar Beach. I grew up on Bar Beach, that's the beach I learnt to swim at.
