TALENTED left-arm quick Lyle McGuigan will make his return to the Newcastle City and Suburban side for their Country Cup clash with Maitland at Robins Oval on Sunday.
McGuigan will come into the side at the expense of Cardiff Panthers (formerly ClubNova Cardiff) teammate Craig Wahlstedt, who is unavailable for the remainder of the representative season.
Phoenix captain and hard-hitting top-order batsman Craig Tselembis is unavailable for the match. His place will be taken by Phoenix teammate Adam Betteridge.
McGuigan and former Newcastle representative fast bowler Phil Bancroft will form a fearsome left-arm opening attack.
The team has a host of seamers to back them up in the form of Shaun Eastham, Clint Telfer, Michael Strang and Warren Holding.
``We basically know nothing about the Maitland side so we are going into it a bit blind," Newcastle C and S captain Mark McLachlan said.
``I guess there are no Crittendens, Herberts or Sopers up there any more, but I've got no doubt they will have a good side."
The winner of the round-three clash will progress to the last 16 teams in the state and will take part in the three-day carnival in December at Raymond Terrace and Maitland.
``That is our aim," McLachlan said.
Cardiff Panthers have added talented all-rounders Jason Holt and Tony Poore to their ranks for the rest of the C and S season.
Holt made his comeback last weekend and Poore will be unleashed on Elliotts Lambton at No.2 Sportsground this Saturday.
In other A-grade matches, Dora Creek Workers host Lambton Bowling Club at Dora Creek Oval, Phoenix are at home to Nelson Bay at Hamilton and Bond Oval and Beach Hotel play Tech College at MacDougall Field.
