NEWCASTLE'S big man of comedy Mikey Robins finally has his own TV show.

It was only a matter time.

Robins has been named host of Pay TV station thecomedychannel's new series to be called Campaign.

Yet to be filmed, the 15-episode Campaign series will focus on TV commercials with a panel of celebrities basically poking fun at the most irritating ads on TV.

A concept The Word endorses vigorously.

`We are really excited to have Mikey Robins host our new series,' thecomedychannel CEO Paul Ridley said yesterday.

`Mikey is very popular with viewers of thecomedychannel and ever since we began talking about this series, he has always been the number one choice for host,' he said.

The weekly, one-hour show will pit celebrities, comedians and ? wait for it ? `flamboyant' advertising executives against each other in a battle of wits but teams will be playing for the biggest laughs rather than any prizes.

Robins will be familiar with the format having made a name for himself as a sharp-tongued devil through Channel Ten's Good News Week. And like Good News Week, Campaign will be filmed before a live studio audience.
